First, Obama has finally…FINALLY…admitted that we are at war with Al Queda. It is about damn time. What I don’t get, however, is the fact that he is mirandizing Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab is very counter-intuitive. We didn’t arrest and mirandize our POW s in WWII, Korea, or Vietnam. Did we? Why on earth would we mirandize a combatant that told us straight up that he was sent by Al Queda? Al Queda is still going to try and attack us whether or not we try him in civilian court or a military tribunal. They are going to try and attack us whether or not we close GITMO. They are going to try and attack us pretty much no matter what we do, so why is Obama so eager to try and pacify these people when he knows full well it won’t work. He needs to be focused on how to keep this country safe, and worry a little less what the terrorists think about us. On a related topic, God was watching over the people in that plane. I thank him that no one was hurt and that the plane landed safely.

Second…Obama needs to realize that the government sucks at just about everything. Don’t believe me, here is a few examples; Education, saving and spending wisely, running a business (Fannie and Freddie)…just to name a few. I don’t know what makes him think that airline security can fare much better. Turn this over to private security agencies, or the airlines themselves. The private sector always does things better than the government ever could. The government has a terrible track record of being able to do things so far, what makes them think that this is going to be any different. The same thing applies to health care.

That leads into my third topic. If the government has such a terrible track record, why then, are they still wanting to pass this monstrosity that is the healthcare reform bill. The American people are against it. What needs to happen is some de-regulation of the insurance companies, such as being able to sell insurance accross state lines. This will ultimately drive down prices of insurance, and make it affordable to most everybody. As I said before, the private sector always does better than government run anything.

So, until the next time,

love,
Your favorite right wing nut-job.

Hi…its been a little while since I posted…been busy with work and a multitude of other things…anyway…lets get caught up, shall we?

As you may have noticed, the Senate is in the process of trying to pass their own health care bill. Sen. Reid (D, NV) is pushing extremely hard to get this passed. He has gone from using the normal channels of getting a vote passed to extreme lengths, including; lies, blackmail, bribery, and extortion. He and some of the dems have gone as far as trying to get his wife fired from her post as the spokeswoman for the Susan B. Komen Foundation. I know that some are going to tell me that there is no direct link from Congress to this action, but there is no such thing as a coincidence in politics. It is one thing to disagree with a person because of his views, and even degrade a congressperson because of these views. This is expected in politics, but to bring an innocent person in on this and smear her unnecessarily is wrong and should be looked into by an independent ethics committee. She works for a great cause, which benefits patience and survivors of breast cancer.

Reid is desperate to get the sixty votes he needs to move this bill to the final vote. It is a hollow shell of what the bill once was and one has to wonder why the democrats are still pursuing it, especially when about half of the democrats are putting their political lives on the line for a bill that is increasingly unpopular with the voters. According to the Rasmussen polls, “46% now Strongly Oppose the plan, compared to 19% who Strongly Favor it.” The country does not want this bill, and yet congress is trying to shove this down our throats. I say ENOUGH!

Topic number two: The president made a surprisingly good speech in Oslo, Norway last week when accepting the Nobel Peace Price. He said that he accepted the prize on behalf of the American people and supported his decision to send 30,000 more troops to Afghanistan. I don’t say this too often, but thank you Mr. President for finally supporting your country. Now, if we can have more of this, your polls might actually go up (little piece of advice from the little guy)

Number three: The climate change talks in Copenhagen have all but halted. No one can agree to anything, and ironically enough, there are environmental protesters outside of an environmental conference. It doesn’t help that the “carbon footprint” of this conference is one of the largest that has been seen in a long time. They are hoping to reach an agreement soon, but I honestly don’t think that’s going to happen.

Cap and Fade

This topic is starting to make me a little angry.  This doesn’t happen that easily when it doesn’t affect me personally.  Well, it is starting to affect me personally.  For years, global warming has been a topic of academic debate, but with few changes on mainstream industry.  it didn’t bother me then, because as Thomas Jefferson said, “It neither picks my pocket, nor breaks my leg.”  This meaning, it didn’t cost me my hard earned money nor did it inhibit my personal life.  Now, it is going to.  Cap and Trade will hike up our taxes to unprecidented highs and will cripple our economy.  With the recent news that uncovers emails sent between climatologists that were trying to blatantly cover up the fact that global warming is proving to be a hoax.  Well, it may have not been a hoax, but a giant misconception at the least.

Global warming, or ‘Climate Change’ as it is now called, is a whole load of crap.  The earth has been going through warming and cooling cycles since it was formed billions of years ago.  There is research that humans are only responsible for 4-6% of the total temperature increase in the past century and the earth has actually been cooling in the past three years.  I would like to know how they plan to explain that.  Please, I invite anyone to comment and prove me wrong.  I check my email and this site on a daily basis and I will answer any messages you send me.

Poll: Who would you like to see run for President In 2012.

I know this is as big of a hot button issue as health care, if not bigger.  The President announced yesterday (12.01.09) that he would send 30,000 troops into Afghanistan.  This announcement coming after almost four months of debating and stalling within his own administration.  Gen. McChrystal requested 40,000 troops on August 30th of this year.  He said that he needs 40,000 troops or he “…risks failure”.  I have a great many friends that are over there right now fighting, and I think that Obama needs to send what ever Gen. McChrystal needs to be able to achieve victory against Al Queda and terrorism over all.  Below are some links that you can use to do your own research and come to your own conclusions

  1. Redacted report from General McChrystal to Secretary of Defense Gates
  2. Obama’s Speech at West Point
  3. Transcript of above speech

I am looking forward to hearing what you have to say about this.

I know that Health care reform is a very hot topic in this country right now.  I am interested to hear your input on it.  Personally, I’m against the bill that the democrats have put out.  I am against socialized medicine…well, pretty much anything socialized.  I believe it should be a more free market, capatalistic system.  This would force prices down due to the competition it would create.  The Republicans have put out a bill that will make it closer to what it needs to be.  One of the main components of their bill is modifying the anti-trust exemption for insurance companies and making it easier to buy health insurance accross state lines.

Welcome

Hello,

My name is Zig.  (It really isn’t, but thats what we’ll go with…it’s the internet, remember?)  I just started up this blog because I have always been into politics, but recently, I have felt the urge to know what others think.  I live in Southwest Ohio, so the political attitude is very similar, especially with most of my friends.  There are however a lot of my friends that are fairly liberal, and I always love having debates with them.  This is what I started this blog for.  I decided that this would be the best way that someone of my meager means could have a hearty debate on a wide variety of topics.  I only have a few requests that are listed below.

1) Please stay relatively on topic…I go on tangents all the time and there is nothing wrong with that.  Just try to stick to the premis of the debate.

2) No personal attacks.  Many of you will not know the other people, so please don’t attack their character over the internet…it just makes you look stupid.

3)Feel free to make suggestions.  No one’s perfect, and I am damn sure that I’m far from it.  If you see something that you would like to add or something that you don’t see on here and would like to talk about feel free to suggest it, and I will do my best to put it up asap.

Well, thats about it…Have fun!
